Tiny Town Offers a Great Stop

It was an amazing Monday, September 12, 2011 in Reedsport, Oregon, when 2,200 Cycle Oregon bicyclists plus volunteers, catering toilets, showers, sinks, bike repair people, food, tables, chairs, medical teams, massage therapists, beer and wine garden, live entertainment, vendors, a market place and much more come through town for the evening. Doubling Reedsport’s population in a matter of hours.

A true community event with a large variety of organizations, churches, clubs, businesses, and individuals working together to make it all happen!

Cycle Oregon, with the theme, “Going Coastal” started in Sutherlin, Oregon. Stopping, visiting and camping in Cottage Grove, Reedsport, Bandon, Powers, Riddle, and back into Sutherlin. Riding approximately 499 miles in one week.

The cyclists come from all around the world. China, UK, Scotland, Holland, Germany, and many different states. Ranging from ages 10 to 80 years young.

Their journey is a stunning ride that encompasses fertile valleys, deep forests, rugged coastline and rolling wine country. Ninety percent of the 2011 route travels on roads Cycle Oregon has never pedaled.

Reedsport was their second stop after a 92 mile ride from Cottage Grove where they were welcomed by enthusiastic residents, balloons, cowbells, tambourines, shouts, cheers and music. The Braves cheerleaders, 4-H’ers, youth groups, old car enthusiasts, musicians, and many others were among the welcoming community.

Hundreds of tents in orderly rows filled Ruppe Field (our football field), Barrone Park, and almost every grassy place around the Highland campus. Including portable shower trucks, beer garden with entertainment and catering tents that fed the hungry bicyclists in gourmet style.

The riders, volunteers, and their families enjoyed being able to relax and recoup from their first day on the road as well as numerous opportunities to experience natural wonders. Dean Creek Elk Reserve, Umpqua River Lighthouse, Umpqua Discovery Center, Community Market, and tours of Reedsport - Winchester Bay area.

It was definitely some summertime fun had by many!!!

Honkey Tonkin' In Gruene

Dec. 27th - We ventured out to a little town called Gruene (pronounced green). A fun rustic little town with a lot of western background history.

Some History on Gruene...

Arriving in Texas in the mid 1840s, German farmers became the first settlers of what is now known as Gruene, Texas. Ernst Gruene, a German immigrant, and his bride Antoinette, had reached the newly established city of New Braunfels in 1845, but acreage was scarce. Thus, Ernst and his two sons purchased land just down river, and Ernst built the first home in Gruene in early fachwerk style. His second son, Henry D. Gruene, built his home (now Gruene Mansion Inn) and planted his surrounding land with cotton.

Henry D. built houses in various styles -- a Victorian cottage (now Lone Star), a large brick home, and a frame house (now Gruene Haus) for the foreman of his farm. The first mercantile store (now Gruene General Store) was built in 1878 and a cotton gin (now Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar) powered by the Guadalupe River was added soon after. Further construction during this profitable time included a dance hall and saloon (Gruene Hall), which became the center of the community's social life.

The Gruene Mansion Inn - A premier Bed and Breakfast, with 30 rooms. Formerly H.D. Gruene’s home, carriage house, corn crib, and barns. Rustic Victorian elegance and a delightful breakfast.
Not only is the property listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it is also designated a Texas Historic Landmark.

The Gurene Hall - The Texas club that helped launch the careers of George Strait and many others, celebrates 35 years of cool music and good fun. Includes images and quotes from some of the most famous artists to grace the Hall's stage.
Once a month Gruene Hall puts on a show like no other. This popular two-stepping, toe-tapping hangout is the place to be the second Sunday of each month for its Gospel Brunch.

The Grapevine - A charming, inviting wine bar right on the main street. It has one of the largest selections of Texas wines and offers free tastings every day. Texas is the 5th largest producing wine region in the entire country. The Grapevine specializes in Texas wines. There are 160 wineries in Texas right now.

Gruene River Antiques - Over 6,500 square feet of antiques, collectibles, gifts and decorator items. Housed in H.D. Gruene's Texas Landmark mercantile building (c. 1903) with original bank vault. Opened in May 2006 with the help of employees and vendors. The store currently consists of thirty vendors. Each vendor was chosen for their quality products and excellence in presentation. You will find a wide array of antiques from different parts of the world and different styles.

Dec. 24th - God’s Word creates, establishes and fulfills His will. Next time you find yourself in a storm, don’t complain, instead, surrender. Remember the stormy wind as well as the calm wind fulfills the Word of God. Submit to His control and to His creative Word in your life (Psalm 148:1-20).

Raining and windy! Prepared food for guests arriving. Lasagna, Chicken Fettuccini, Cesar Salad, fresh fruit, crème puffs, smoked salmon spread, crackers. Delicious food, fun fellowship.

Niece had to work so we will open gifts Christmas Day.

Dec. 25th - Saturday - And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people (Luke 2:10).

Happy Birthday Jesus!!

Played games and waited for niece to get off work. Opened gifts around 2:30 pm. Played more games, had a wonderful and delicious traditional Christmas dinner, turkey, dressing, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad and veggies.

When it got dark, we went and looked at beautiful Christmas lights. (Sorry, the pictures are on my cell phone, will have to download them when we get home)

Our Drive to Texas for Christmas

On Monday, Dec. 20th...A bitter-sweet day. We took off on a two to three days drive to Texas. Lucas (our nephew) is moving there with his family. He has lived with us for one year and will sure be missed.
Larry and I will spend Christmas and New Year's there with my sister and her family and fly home in 2011.
Thank You Lord Jesus for always being near to all who call upon You. Thank You for being with us even when we stumble and fall. Thank You for carrying our burdens. Thank You that You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. All You have to do is open Your hand to meet our needs today. Lord, we open our hearts and cry out in truth and thanksgiving to You. PaPa God, we draw near to You this day and thank You for drawing near to us. Here we are, use us as we meet people in our travels to Texas. In Jesus name we pray, giving You thanks, glory, honor and praise. Amen and Amen. Psalm 145:14-21)

We left home at 8:am, dropped our girls (dogs) off with sister and niece, took gifts to grandkids. On the road again at 10:23 am. It was 44 degrees out. Next stop, Redding.

The men are praying to make it through Los Angeles by this evening? We are all excited.

Run into snow in Glendale. It is so beautiful! Smith Summit 1700 feet, snowing, driving is slow. Sexton Pass 1916 feet. Filled up in Medford…$3.29 a gallon!! Shasta was smooth sailing.
Had lunch with brother and sister-in-law. What a great visit we had with them. Back on the road at 3:30 pm. Ten hours to go to get to LA.

The fella's named the GPS, Gloria…she let’s them know where to go.

Dec. 21st - God is our greatest refuge. He doesn’t only shelter us, He provides for us and strengthens us. He is our help, hope and happiness. (Psalm146:1-10)

We arrived in Arizona 3:35 am. Stopped about 5:am at a rest area and slept for an hour or so. Back on the road at 6:45 am. The sunrise was absolutely fantastic! Oh the beauty God gives us to enjoy!

We drank our Biometics liquid vitamins, feelin' great and ready to go some more miles!

New Mexico 12:30 pm. Had a flat tire 12:45 and no jack…A good citizen stopped and helped us.
We had to buy a new tire at Wal-Mart in Deming, New Mexico.

Got a motel room in Fabens, Texas 6:pm. Had a nice dinner, shower and a good night sleep.

Dec. 22nd - The One who set the galaxies in motion is the same One who addresses our needs. There is no limit to God’s love, His understanding or His power. Ive Him the broken pieces of your life and let Him heal your heart. (Psalm 147:1-11).

Left Fabens at 8:am. Thank you Connie and Rita for the Christmas goodies. They were our breakfast, lunch and snacks for two days.

11:00 – we had a BIG blow out, ruined the rim!! Jesus is our help, hope and happiness. Thank You Lord, for Preston who stopped and had a jack.

1:00 – We found a tire shop and a rim. Ralph’s friend George had a rim. Ended up buying two new tires. Now we have three new tires!! That should get us to our destination.

2:00 – Back on the road. Five more hours of driving before arriving at sister's.

7:30 pm – ARRIVED SAFELY!! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!!

This is how our road trip went. I will update with more things that we do. The weather hasn't been too good and we have actually just enjoyed being home with each other, visiting, playing games, eating, sleeping, visiting, eating some more :-) You know how the holiday's are.

Trip To Texas

Simple Luxury, Fun and Blessings!

I will go before you and make the crooked paths straight (Isaiah 45:2).

We left Washington State on January 22nd heading for San Antonio, Texas, moving the last of my sisters things, driving a Penske 16' moving truck with us and my sister's two Shih Tzu's, towing a car which carried their two cats.

My first trip to Texas and it was awesome! We had a great trip, the animals all did great traveling, and we got to Texas without anything going wrong! Thank You Lord Jesus!!!

It took us four days of driving. I got to go through California, Arizona, and New Mexico during our drive. It was beautiful! God's beauty even in the desert areas.

It snowed going through the Pass in California, it was so beautiful!!

We left each morning at 6:00 AM and drove ten and eleven hours each day, seeing a lot of desert beauty, making animals out of smoke stack clouds, because the sky was always bright blue without clouds, being able to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. They were so beautiful!

The hills are beautiful…rolling hills, cattle, and of course, many power lines…I look at the hills and think about how it was in the days before cars, freeways, or horses and cowboys. Tents and cabins in the mountains.
Went through Monterey,CA. more rolling hills, reminds me of Ireland.

Snow cap mountains amongst thousands of dairy farms…reminds of us Switzerland, the Swiss Alps, it is absolutely beautiful!!

We stopped in Anthony, Texas for breakfast...Things are bigger in Texas as they say! I had chicken fried Steak breakfast and couldn't believe how big it was! Needless to say, I did not eat it all :-)

We arrived at my sister's new home safely. Got the truck unloaded and she has been showing me around.

For the Lord God is a sun and a shield, He will give grace and glory, no good thing will He withold from them that walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11)

RETIREMENT ROAD TRIP ~ Days 5-7

December 31st ~ The eyes of the Lord your God are always on the land, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year. (Deuteronomy 11:12)
The “what” of our future is determined by the “Who” of eternity.

God holds the future in His hands with grace sufficient day by day, through good or ill He gently leads if we but let Him have His way.

We brought the New Year in praying for each individual…God moved in such an amazing way!! Lynnette and her kids went home after being prayed for because she had to work at 4:am. We toasted in the New Year with sparkling cider. After toasting, Larry played the guitar and we worshipped the Lord in song until about 2:30 am, then we cleaned up, and went to bed.

January 1, 2010 ~ Happy New Year!!! Becky and I went to church…Great service.

HOPE is what I am claiming.

Holy Spirit, teach my soul to soar! There is nothing like Your love, I will love you forever Lord, for all You are to me! Your love is so wide, so deep, so high!

Waves of mercy, waves of grace, everywhere I look, I see Your face. Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!!

I surrender all to You my God, all I have. Nothing compares to You!! Let heaven shout, for I have been redeemed!!

As I travel down life’s pathway, Jesus keeps me day by day, and although the road is winding, yet with Him I need not stray. God’s presence brings great comfort.

Jan. 3rd ~ Sunday, went to church. Heidi Baker spoke a powerful message!! Went to the Shasta Dam Park and took family pictures. Nathan cooked another fabulous dinner, roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, corn on the cob. YUM! Played more cards. The men watched more football.

Lord Jesus, widen my world. I want to be a part of the work You are doing. Give me eyes to see as You see, hands to serve others, and a heart to share Your Gospel.

Jan. 4, 2010 ~ Packed things up, ate breakfast. We left at 10:am headed for the Redwoods. Saw five Bald Eagles. It is fun to be able to stop and enjoy the scenery. Stayed overnight at Chinook RV in Klamath, CA. sat by the fire on the river.

Jan. 5th ~ Got up at 8:am, Larry played his guitar a bit, we had devotions, the men ate peaches for breakfast, packed things up and headed for the Trees of Mystery. Spent all day enjoying the Redwoods. Had seafood lunch in Cresent City on our way home.

It had been a very delightful, blessed and luxurious trip!! Looking forward to sleeping in our own bed tonight though.

Thank You Lord God for the opportunity we have had to do this trip!! Thank You for getting us to and from safely.

RETIREMENT ROAD TRIP ~ Day 4

December 30th

Had a wonderful healthy breakfast…just kicking back this morning. I think we are going to go bowling this evening? Nephew went and worked out at the YMCA, his wife went shopping.

This afternoon we went to Shasta Dam and walked around. Seen a Paragrin Falcon nest and a Eagle in a tree…that was really neat.

Had dinner and went bowling tonight. Another day and night full of luxurious family fun! .

December 29th ~

Went to see the Sun Dial Bridge at Turtle Bay in the afternoon. We went to lunch at HomeTown Buffet, had the all you can eat salad bar. Very good place to eat! It's cold out, started raining, so we went back to the house, played cards, baked homemade cinnamon rolls, lasagna and ate dinner later. Alex, my nephew, is helping us all upgrade our computers. We will have Windows 7 put on our computer before we leave. It is amazing how knowledgeable he is with computers! A big blessing to me to learn a bit more.

The kids made play dough birthday cakes. The men/boys watched football game. We learned a new fun card game called Snitched. Laughed a lot again.

Nothing more luxury then spending time with family!!

Shantelle, Dennen and I went to Wal-Mart and made copies of Deric’s graduation pictures, come home ate breakfast and now, 12:30 pm we are off to Redding, CA. to see Rick and his family…

Stopped and had lunch at a rest area and let the dogs walk around a bit. Arrived in Redding at 5:pm ~ What a wonderful blessing to see my brother, his wife, all the nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Played Skip-Bo, laughed and had a great time catching up.
Another fun and luxury day.

Thank You Lord Jesus for this opportunity to just take a luxury vacation!! Luxury because we are with each other, going and doing whatever we desire.

Today, Sunday, we went to church. Finished packing the last minute things. It started raining out just as we were heading out, but we have sunshine in our hearts!

1:30 pm ~ We are headed to Cindy’s to pick up Lucas, then to Roseburg to have our CHRISTmas with Clint, Bobbi, Deric, Trenton, and Riane.

5:30 Had a nice visit with Clint and his family, exchanged gifts. Deric followed us to Eagle Point. Lucas and him rode together.

Got to Shantelle and Dennis’. Visited, exchanged gifts, ate.

CHRISTmas Day Celebration

WOW, what a blessed CHRISTmas we had celebrating with about 30 family members. Some come from Texas, some from Washington State, who arrived on Monday. Many from different surrounding areas in Oregon arrived early Christmas morning.

The turkey went in the oven at 8:am, pork tender loin went in the smoker at 8:30. About 1:00 potatoes were cooked and mashed, gravy made, veggie warmed up and the table was set, ready to eat at 2:00.

We all gathered in a circle, joining hands for a prayer of thankfulness and blessing on our bountiful meal. We enjoyed our Christmas feast together, cleaned up and laughed, played cards, Scrabble, laughing, visiting and reminising about the good ol' days.

Many of the guest left around 6:pm...hubby and brother watched the Portland Blazer/Denver Nuggets Game...Blazer's won.

My husband and I won a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. While we were there, a friend shared a membership vacation opportunity with us.

If they were going to buy the package, we'd get paid back anyway in commissions. The initial package would be a "business deduction" and become part of our will-able estate...in which the government nor the IRS could take and redistribute at will. Win/win.

I took my two sister's to Cozumel, Mexico ~ peak season, Christmas time, 7 nights 8 days at a beautiful resort for only $298 for the week!

Our Christmas Vacation

We took a week and traveled to spend time with family in Bonney Lake, WA. Our drive there was quite an experience with all the snow and ice on the freeway. What should of taken us three hours to drive, ended up taking us seven and a half hours.

Praise the Lord for getting us to and from our destinations safely.

On Christmas Eve we girls enjoyed baking goodies preparing for Christmas Day while the boys and pets relaxed. The kids opened their gifts.

On Christmas Day we enjoyed great family time together and delicious food. We laughed a lot, played games, made a snowman. It snowed all day. There was a foot of beautiful snow.

We left Washington, went to Woodburn,OR. to Dad and Mom's for two days, having more family fun and food together. The day before we left there it started raining and the eighteen inches of snow there was melting. That made our traveling much smoother.

We then traveled to Roseburg to have Christmas with our son and grand children. They got us a motel room for the night. The next morning we headed to Medford, OR. to see our other grand children. On the way home we picked up our new little puppy, Ginger Rose.

Some of our grand children come home with us. We had a fun time together, laughing a lot, playing games and going bowling.

God blessed us with wonderful family time together, many wonderful memories, and safe traveling this Christ~mas Season.

For Kids

Beaches

The resort has a beautiful sandy beach offering opportunities for swimming and lounging in the sun. There are no lifeguards, however, so children must be supervised.

Boating

Boating and water sports are some of the most popular activities at Wapato Point. Dock and buoy style moorage is available for guests at Wapato Point, so for those of you with boats, be sure and bring them. There are no launch facilities located directly on Wapato Point, however a public launch is located approximately 1 1/2 miles away. There is no water skiing allowed directly from the shore on Lake Chelan so they have provided water ski floats for your enjoyment. They also have non-motorized boats available for rent and can make reservations for you to rent a ski boat if you would like.

Tennis Courts
The resort has six lighted outdoor, tennis courts for your enjoyment. The courts are open from approximately early Spring, after the snow is gone, through the late fall. They have wonderful tennis instructors on staff from mid-June through mid-September. Tennis clinics are also conducted during that same time period.

Fishing

A catch and keep Trout Pond is located in the center of the resort. The pond is open and stocked with Trout on a seasonal basis from approximately mid-June through August. Bring your own poles or you can rent one from the KIOSK. If you are renting poles, bait is also provided.

Jacuzzi

The indoor pool facility also includes a large Jacuzzi/hot tub. This is great for relaxing after a full day of fun and recreation. The Jacuzzi is surrounded by large glass windows allowing you to soak up the daily sun or gaze at the evening stars.

Pools

Wapato Point has seven outdoor pools, one with an outdoor hot tub, and one indoor pool. The outdoor pools are heated for your comfort and are open from approximately May 15 through October 15. Three Sister's Vacation To Cozumel

Our "Three Sister’s" trip to Mexico and how it was for only $298 for our 8 days 7 night for the 3 of us, not including the all-inclusive and airfare...it totaled $1,200 for the whole trip! That’s for ONE WEEK!

We DEFINITELY WILL BE USING our Membership as often as possible! We had a hoot of a time!

I don't think we sister’s have spent 8 days together since the time we left home?

We talked, laughed, ate A LOT, and yes, drank some too. It was Charlene's 45th birthday and my husband and my 28th Anniversary on Dec. 10th, so being in Mexico together, we girls celebrated a little.

The first day we just relaxed checked out the resort and all it had to offer, laid by the pool, had some cocktails and met many very fun, neat people from all over the world. It was interesting talking to them, getting to know a little about them and laughing with them. We all three enjoy meeting people that's for sure. Everyone called us "The Three Sister's" instead of the Three Amigo's. They always wanted to be where we were because we were always laughing and having so much fun. We would just wake up and do whatever happened to go on with us for that day.

We went to formal dinners three nights, snorkeled (free), did water aerobics, laid in the sun, played volleyball, walked the beach, I had a massage and went to a show, Char and Cindy para-sailed..Cindy never had before so wanted Char to go with her, had cocktails, laid in the sun some more then...we ate some more.

We were going to do a swim with the dolphins trip where we would see the Botanical Gardens, snorkel again, and have a lunch, but storm Olga came with hurricane winds, lasting a day in a half…needless to say, we cancelled that trip, laid around the resort, spent time in the dining areas, the lounge, and in our room watching movies and...you guessed it ate some more.

We rented a jeep two days later (the day before we had to leave) and drove the whole island of Cozumel. It was like driving in a circle, was pretty awesome! We got to see all the reefs, stopping at all the little restaurants and beach bars, swimming in the Caribbean Sea, laughing, eating, meeting so many people, we only had a few drinks because we had the jeep, but we sure ate a lot! Imagine that??

The town was decorated for Feliz Navidad (Christmas), the town tree was beautiful down by the ferry dock. Things were decorated nicely everywhere and spirits were joyous.

There’s a big world out there to explore and experience and we will be doing just that with our Vacation Membership!

Are you addicted to worry? When looking in a mirror, what do you see, worry or peace, hope or fear?

How do we find peace and happiness in an unhappy world?
Don't be driven by what others throw on you. Be driven by the power of the Holy Spirit. He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

We can't change what we don't confront, so let's confront our fears, fling them aside. Relax, rejuvenate and refresh our minds and hearts.

"Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace that passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Therefore, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

What do we do to fulfill our lives with joy and contentment?

The Bible says; "Therefore, take no thought saying, What shall we eat? What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your Heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. Do you fear using the potential God has given you? Do you know "who you are?" NOT what you are (a mother, a father, a son, a daughter) or what you do (a nurse, a policeman, a CEO, a logger, a janitor), but "who you are?" You are a child of the King, His glory, the light of the world, the salt of the earth, the apple of His eye, a citizen of his Kingdom, more than a conqueror. At last free. If God says we are, we are. Agree with Him. Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
He makes all things beautiful in it's time. It's never too late to be who we were created to become, we must move beyond our fears. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie, though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
He is at our side, but our fears raise an iron curtain between us. Fling aside those fears, His arms are outstretched to receive us. In the moment we relinquish all, in that same moment we shall know release, for we shall be set free of ourselves, our fears and be captive of His love and His peace.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us....For we are saved by hope, but hope that is seen is not hope, for what a man sees, why does he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

These things He has spoken unto us, that His joy might remain in us, and that our joy might be full. When we go to Him admitting our fears, our lack, He fills us up. He alone restores our souls. Secure in His love. In Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and we are complete in Him. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. As we think in our heart so are we.
Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Making Life Long Family Memories

"Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, I don't care if I never get back. Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game.

We were blessed to go on a week~end vacation taking our oldest grandson Deric, his girlfriend Emily and his brother Destin to a Seattle Mariner's/New York Yankee's baseball game.
Destin was given a baseball by J.J. Putz during batting practice which was very exciting for him and us. The Mariner's won 3-1.

Before the game we went to the Space Needle where we enjoyed going through all the shops and riding bumper cars.

The Seattle Space Needle was built for the 1962 World’s Fair and today is recognized as a true symbol of the city of Seattle. Built to withstand 200 mph winds and an earthquake of up to 9.5 magnitude, the 605-foot-high Space Needle offers amazing views. We have been going here for the past 29 years. We have seen many changes, both good and bad in each family, many new family members have joined us through marriages and births. And this is still everyones favorite place to go.

We camp at Moonshine Park in Siletz, Oregon right on the Siletz River. We swim in the river, play horseshoes, badmitten, volleyball go trout fishing and crawdadding, sing around the campfire, roast marshmellows, eat smores, laugh and have a great time escaping the daily routines of life and becoming one big family and little children again for the week~end.

This year the grand kids and great grand kids surprised everyone by bringing everything needed to celebrate Pop and Mom's 69th Wedding Anniversary. They had a boombox with music from the 1930's playing, we toasted with sparlking cider, they had a cake, a beautifully done pictures and special memories board and LOTS of other desserts.

Pop's will be 90 years young in Janurary, Mom's will be 87 in November. (And they still camp every year...in a trailer though). It was a very blessed surprise to them and the rest of the family. A lot of tears of love and joy were shed.

We even had a hula hoop contest (only three tried). No one has hula hooped for years, so there was quite a bit of laughing going on. More are going to start practicing for next year.

LESSONS FROM A DANDELION

As believers in the Lord Jesus, our faith must stand firm on the Word of God which will hold us even in the midst of the trials and tribulations that come our way. We must remind ourselves that God is our faithful Father who will be with us to lead and guide us on to the best path as He sees fit. The peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and minds and keep us centered and filled with the confidence that we shall not be moved no matter what the enemy may bring against us. Remember the Lord's promises when trials come your way and know that God is your Comforter and a very present help in time of trouble. (Psalm 46:1-11)
Stand strong in times of tribulation and know that you will come forth stronger and better equipped at the end of that trial.

The world is coming alive again. Isn't spring grand? I was walking my dog the other day and I noticed a yard full of dandelions. What a wonderful sight. Even the name is fun. Dandy lions. I always picture a big, friendly lion with a silly grin on his face. I love dandelions. I know some people consider them weeds, but I don't. I think dandelions are
wonderful flowers with a lesson for all of us to learn.

Do you remember feeling a special attraction to dandelions when you were a child?

I remember bringing fistfuls of dandelions to my mother. It didn't matter that the stems were sticky. It didn't matter that both my parents cursed the existence of these flowers when they crept into the lawn. I thought they were beautiful.
Beautiful and plentiful! At least once a week my father would chop off all the heads with the lawn mower, and those he missed my brothers, sister and I would pick. We'd pop the blossoms off the stem with a snap of our fingers. Even so, it seemed like the supply of dandelions never ran low.
For the flowers that escaped the honor of being delivered to my mother, the trauma of experiencing my father's lawn mower, or the horror of suffering through a childhood game, there was a whole other level of existence.
I don't recall ever seeing a dandelion in transition. Perhaps I never paid enough attention to the process. Perhaps I knew it would steal the magic of the transformation if I watched it scientifically. It just seemed like one day there would be a bright, yellow blossom and the next, there would be a soft, round puff of nose tickling seeds. I wondered if, like a
snowflake, no too dandelion puffs were alike.
These puffs were a marvel. Sometimes we'd use furious movement to quickly disperse the seeds into the wind. Other times we'd blow softly to see how strongly they grasped their core. And when they could hold on no longer, they gently drifted off to spread their joy elsewhere. One way would leave me squealing in delight, the other would leave me watching in wonder.
And now, as yellow dots appear in the greenness of my lawn, I think of all the lessons we can learn from this so-called weed.
Imagine having the staying power of a dandelion. Imagine stretching your roots so deep and straight that no amount of tugging on your stem would tear you completely from the source that gives you life. Imagine if you came back to face the world with a bright, sunshiny face even after someone had run you over with a lawnmower, or snapped your head off while singing a silly song. Imagine if your foliage, the things you've accomplished in this world, were a nutritious source of vitamins that helped others grow strong. Imagine if you could spread love, encouragement and compassion as freely
and fully as this flower spreads seeds of itself.
I hope that we can stretch our roots deep enough so that the strongest poisons of anger, fear, hate, envy and criticism can't reach our souls. I hope that the next time you see a
dandelion, you'll stop and think about the lessons it can teach you. I hope you'll see a flower in a world that sees weeds.

There is a lifting up, the Almighty is your gold! You are in the middle of a manifestation, RECEIVE IT!! God wants to abundantly bless you in all areas of your life spiritually, physically, financially.

Abraham was called to get out of his country, from his family and father's house to a land God shows him (Genesis 12-13).

God delivers with substance so great!! Awesome things are going to happen! Be ready, position yourself.

Go where God says to go, be what God wants you to be.

Encourage yourself in the Lord and rededicate your energy to think of your dreams with a renewed outlook knowing that you have the ability to stand in who God has created you to be. The Lord will be with you to guide you and strengthen you to reach your full potential. Believe in yourself as God believes in you and great things will happen in your life. (Psalm 18:20-28)

Look for shooting stars in the evenings as your walking sandy beaches, you can usually see them winking on and off like little flashlights. Children love to make wishes on them.

We should never have the attitude of mediocrity and quickly settle for less than the very best that God wishes for us to take a hold of. We are to have the imagination of achieving every goal that we have in our hearts and see our dreams being realized knowing that with God's help all things are possible to those who believe. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

We are to seek the wisdom of God and ask to receive what we are lacking so that we may go forward in achievement fulfilling the will of God for our life. The Bible declares in Proverbs 8:12 “I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.” Above all else we are to seek wisdom and understanding because through them come all the answers to our hearts' desires. (James 1:5-8) (Proverbs 7:1-4) (Proverbs 8:5-11)

We read in Proverbs 4:7-9 “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

Believe in yourself and know that you are meant to achieve greatness.

We're told that Albert Einstein said: “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.” He also said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” And Napoleon is purported to have said, “Imagination rules the world.”

We are limited only by our imagination. When we believe nothing can be done, we search for a way out when we could do better searching for solutions. When we perceive our situation as impossible, we resign ourselves to that fate when we might be drawing upon greater resources of faith and courage. We far too often settle for less when we could be asking ourselves that transforming question, “What if...?”

The truth is if it can be imagined, it can come to be. The solution to your problem, the way through your dilemma or the answer to your yearning must first be conceived in your mind before it can be birthed in life. Conceive it and believe it, then you will achieve it.
It can happen for individuals and it can happen for our world. Vividly conceive it in your imagination and fervently believe it in your heart. Then you will achieve it in life.

Believe in yourself as God believes in you and seek His will for your life knowing that with God by your side all things are possible. (Mark 9:23)

Launching Out

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed, and he went out, not knowing whither he went (Hebrews 11:8)

You have only touched the fringes, you have lingered on the shorelines. Launch out on the vast sea of His love and mercy, His mighty power and limitless resources.

If you will enter into all that He has for you, you must walk by faith upon the waters. You must let go of your doubts and your thoughts of self-preservation you must cast aside.

His arm will uphold you and the power of His Spirit will bear you up. You will walk upon the waves and the storms will drive you to the desired port.

Chart and compass you do not need, for His Spirit will direct where you go.

Do not fearful but believe. He waits to bless you. He waits to give you of His fullness. He delights to do for you because He loves you beyond your power to begin to know.

When He is to you more precious than all else, when He has become more real to you than all else, and when you love Him more than we love any other, then shall we know complete satisfaction.

Your peace will flow as a river, your joy will overflow as a fountain and His glory will be poured out as the fragrant anointing oil upon all your other relationships.

He does not intend to strip you of earthly ties and joys, He longs to have you give Him the center of your life. Give Him wholly your heart's affections and He will meet your every need. Seek first the Kingdom of God, set your desires wholly to obtain the riches of God and all other things shall be freely supplied as the need arises.

You have His Word, you have His promises, and His promises are sure and His Word will never pass away.
He is with you to help you, to encourage you, and to give you strength in all you may be called to endure.

Face each new day with Him at your side and never forget that He is there. Meet every circumstance with His arm outstretched to fight for you.
Do not lift your hand to attempt to accomplish any task in your own strength. It is not your cooperation that He asks, but you submission. Draw upon His strength for every step both smooth and rough.
If He bring you through the river in summer, you will not fear to trust Him in flood time.

Do not look back, but launch out looking ahead, for He has glory prepared for you.

You stand on the threshold of a new day, for He has great things in store for you. You have no power to concieve what He is about to do. He will bring to pass a new thing. You will rejoice exceedingly. You have heard of the showers, but He will send a mighty downpour!

Launch out, let your heart recieve and be encouraged, for a new day is dawning. Be faithful regardless of apparent failures and discouragements. Keep your eyes on the end of the course, victory is secured.

So move out and move on, and you will find greater heights before you. Unknown riches await your discovery and unimagined joys your experience.
Head into the winds. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6).
The storm is not a thing to fear but to welcome.

As soon as you have made the discovery that in the time of stress and strain you have the clearest revelations of Him. You will learn to head into the wind with sheer delight.
Faith looks up and sails on, by God's great Sun, not seeing one shoreline or earthly lighthouse or path upon the way. Often it's steps seem to lead into utter uncertainty, darkness and disaster, but God opens the way.

Go forth this day, not knowing, but trusting.
